Intermediate League 

The Emmets travelled to Monaghan with a 5 game winning streak. Short a number of players due to injuries, exams & holidays this was going to be a tough battle.  However it was Monaghan Harps who completely dictated the pace of the game from the throw in. The Emmets did manage to keep the deficit down to 1 point a half time thanks goalkeeper Aaron Murray and scores from Cian Conlon, Aaron Lynch and Oisin McNally. The Emmets shooting and accuracy was below par based on previous games. Half time Emmets 0-4 Monaghan 0-5

With 5 minutes gone in the 2nd half , the Harps ran through the defence to find the back of the net for the game’s only goal. Another 2 unanswered points and the gap was widening. At this stage James Conlon and Niall Loughman took control of the midfield and started to create plays resulting in frees with Cian Conlon converting the frees and the Emmets were battling hard to reduce the gap. Fionan Carolan, James and Cian Conlon all registered scores but unfortunately the full time whistle came and the Emmets suffered their first defeat of the season. Next game is at home to Doohamlet on Friday 14th June in Emmet Park at 8PM.
